GOING NAKED
Overuse of gel and acrylic polishes can leave nails brittle and prone to breakage, so it’s no wonder there’s a wave of women opting for nakedness. “Women are nding that extensive use of synthetic nail treatments are really a ecting their natural nail growth and condition,” says Chanel manicurist Jocelyn Petroni, who o ers a signature Naked Manicure at her Sydney-based salon. Ditching the polish, even just for a couple of months, is a great way to get nails back on track. But don’t think you have to sacri ce good grooming. “There is a clean beauty trend where women are opting for a more natural beauty look and this includes how you treat and care for your nails,” says Petroni, who has tended to the nails of Miranda Kerr, Victoria Lee and Jessica Gomes. “This is a low- maintenance option yet is equally as chic as a full set of block-colour nails.” The other plus of a naked manicure? “It lasts the longest as there is no polish or product to chip o the nail plate,” explains Petroni. If your nails are in peak condition, a nude shade of nail polish elevates a bare manicure. “Classic, feminine nails stand the test of time,” says Petroni. “A nude polish manicure is the most elegant natural nail look; it complements all skin tones, and hand and nail shapes.”
