As our social diaries starts to fill up again as lockdown lifts, it would be wise to schedule in a few beauty appointments to help feel prepped to greet the outside world again. (This is especially the case if you’ve tried your hand at cutting your own fringe or executed a dodgy at-home brow tint during the haziest, darkest days of lockdown.) To help make your re-entry into civilised society that much chicer, here’s our edit of the treatments we suggest you schedule in as we head back into some sort of normality.
FOR GROOMED BROWS: A WAX AND TINT AT DELPHINE SOREL
Formerly working at renowned salon Kristin Fisher Eyebrows, French-born Delphine opened her own space earlier this year in Sydney’s CBD. Located in the elegant Dymocks Building, Delphine offers a suite of beautifying treatments for natural-looking brows and lashes, all executed with typically Gallic refinement and chic. I went for her eyebrow styling and tint, and my brows were full, fluffy, and tinted just enough – not so much as too look weird with my fair hair, but enough to make me feel groomed just by simply brushing up my arches.
FOR CHIC AND LOW-KEY HAIR: A CUT AND BLOWDRY AT RAW ANTHONY NADER
“I want you to look like you haven’t been to see me,” says Anthony Nader, the iconic hairstylist behind cult salon RAW in Sydney’s Surry Hills. In other words, a salon visit that leaves you looking like you, only better; a refreshing attitude if you’re not one for overly preened and stiff pageant queen blowdries. The industrial cool, pared-back space could be situated in any number of big cities that Nader’s illustrious career has taken him to, complete with a ‘relaxation room’ for hair washing modelled off a first class aeroplane cabin (for the luxurious experience “without the jetlag”). Expect an off-duty model blowout, and low-maintenance haircut that looks good with minimum fuss – perfect for feeling polished on a Zoom call if you’ve just rolled out of bed.
FOR A PAMPERING MANICURE: THE ULTRACEUTICALS ANTI-AGEING MANICURE AT JOCELYN PETRONI
Not unlike a facial but for your hands, this beautiful treatment uses a customised cocktail of exfoliating lactic acid and actives from Ultraceuticals to rejuvenate and beautify. This is then followed with an exquisite manicure using Jocelyn Petroni’s elegant selection of Chanel nail polishes. The ideal treatment to help lighten sun spots, or to deal with keratosis pilaris (otherwise known as ‘chicken skin’).
FOR MAJOR GLOW: THE FAIRY DUST FACIAL AT BELAMÉRES
Tucked away in an unassuming arcade in Double Bay is Belaméres, a skin clinic with a roster of celebrity clients thanks to their aptly-named ‘Fairy Dust Facial’. The creation of clinic founder Carina Gross, it brings all the benefits of a traditional laser treatment (i.e. skin repair and collagen boosting, which translates as luminous skin) without the major downtime or trauma usually associated with lasers. Between round of laser, Carina infuses hyaluronic acid into the skin. Result? An almost unbelievably hydrated and glowing complexion.
